About Bird Sketches

I have been drawing birds on and off for over 30 years. The first sketch I can remember was a White Wagtail. I have hundreds of little line drawings scattered on my nature notebooks, mostly ball pen, some coloured in with watercolours, most drawn in the field others at home, from my pet Zebra Finches or Greenfinch when I was little. At high school I illustrated my own bird guide to the birds of my local park using felt tip pens. My town’s council published it as I started University. Shortly after, I moved onto watercolours, and a couple of years ago I was given a Wacom Bamboo pen tablet as a present. I started to used it regularly and exploring the endless possibilities it affords. This sketchbook, unless otherwise stated, shows these digital sketches. I am happy for you to download or print them for your own use. For commercial or other purposes, please contact me. Please comment on them whether you like them or not, I’d appreciate the feedback.
